About The Good Souls Project

Copyright-Dan Haimovich

“Good Souls” is a photo portrait series by photographer Dan Haimovich.

When volunteering in Greece, Dan was inspired by the hundreds of volunteers who had left their everyday lives, and had committed themselves totally to helping the refugees who arrive to Greece daily from Syria during their quest for freedom without expecting anything in return. The story of these Good Souls is really what this project is all about – meeting the people and trying to understand their motivation.

This project consists of portraits taken on location accompanied by short articles written by the volunteers themselves.

Dan spent one month on the island of Lesvos, and at the north of Greece, volunteering with multiple humanitarian group efforts for the refugees. So far the project presents over 50 portraits of these amazing people.

The goal for this project is to  portrait and document the  stories of 120 Good Souls by the end of this year 2016. Dan Haimovich, is a well-known professional freelance photographer. In recent years, Dan chose to focus on documentary projects aiming for social and political impact.

Dan won a few prizes as part of the “Local Testimony” Photojournalism competition in projects that exposed homeless people in Tel Aviv, a deserted Bedouin Village in the Negev, and the Ethiopian communities struggle in Israel.
