Why did you come and volunteer ?
I heard the storys about Lesvos from the refugges in germany and a friend came up with the idea to go there .So we canceld a holliday in Colombia and went there to help and also support the locals.
What did you know about the place before arriving?
I knew, that it is a horrible situation in the camps, but I had no idea…
When did you Arrive and for how long ( alone or with friends ) ?
I came with a friend, supported by a small organisation from Berlin. I was there for two month.
What reactions did you get from family and friends before coming?
They were super supportive, but worried.
An influential / defining moment you had on the Island ?

What did you learn new about life and people ?
When the governments fail, you have to go and do something.
Have you experienced moments of crisis or trauma?
Few, but it was a good experiance.
Do you remember anyone in particular among refugees or volunteers?
A little deaf boy, super happy, because I talked to him in sign language and two men from Iran, we became very good friends.
What are you taking with you back home?
The great feeling to work with lots of different persons from different cultures for the same goal.
