These people are survivors, they don’t need us to give them items. We should accept them into our countries, give them space and the opportunity…
Dan Chant & Anna Hunt :: British :: Age 26 & 24
We had previously been volunteering in the ‘jungle’ in Calais but having seen the awful conditions in Greece, on the news and online, we decided to come here for a while to do what we can to help.
We knew things weren’t great over here. Overcrowded with little real support available to those who need it most.
We arrived in Greece on the 1st April 2016 for 1 month.
Dan: “My family reacted very positively, however some friends found it difficult to understand why we were going.”
These people are survivors, they don’t need us to give them items. We should accept them into our countries, give them space and the opportunity to determine their own lives and livelihoods somewhere safe, and they’ll probably contribute significantly.
