knowing you’ve helped deliver 3000 bananas or portions of soup is a great feeling

I went because I had the opportunity to help and wanted to witness what was happening with my own eyes. I spent 2 weeks on Lesbos then 2 1/2 in Idomeni, and Idomeni was much harder on every level. It surprised me how easy it was to contribute once i was there, the work was tiring but finishing a distribution knowing you’ve helped deliver 3000 bananas or portions of soup is a great feeling. At the same time terrible as no-one should have to queue for food like that and we were unable to make sure enough food was going out to ensure no-one was hungry. But lots of people doing their best to help others is a beautiful thing to behold.
